Make Claude Apply to Jobs For You (Indeed Connector + Claude for Chrome)
Claude just added a native Indeed connector. Connect the two once, and Claude reads live listings, ranks the jobs you're actually a strong fit for, and rewrites your resume for each one. The connector finds and tailors, and Claude for Chrome does the actual applying. Set both up once and you have a job-applying machine that runs while you sleep.
What you're about to build
Claude just added a native Indeed connector, and it changes the job hunt completely. You connect the two once, hand Claude your resume, and it reads live Indeed listings, ranks the ones you're actually a strong fit for, and rewrites your resume for each one on the Harvard guide and the Google XYZ formula.
Here's the honest part the hype skips. The Indeed connector can find and read jobs, but it cannot click apply for you. The actual submitting is done by Claude for Chrome, the browser extension that drives Indeed the way you would, filling and sending each application.
So the real system is two tools working together. The connector is the brain that finds and tailors. Claude for Chrome is the hands that apply. Set both up once and the whole thing runs while you sleep.

What you need first
Five minutes of setup and you're running:
- A paid Claude plan. Connectors and Claude for Chrome are on the paid tiers.
- An Indeed account with your profile filled in and your resume uploaded there.
- Your resume as a PDF on your computer, so you can drop it straight into Claude.
- The Claude for Chrome extension installed for the applying step. Add it to Chrome and sign in with the same Claude account.
Get those four ready and every step after this takes under a minute.
Step 1 - Connect Claude to Indeed
Open Claude. In the sidebar click Customize, then Connectors, then Browse connectors. In the search box type Indeed, and when it shows up under Anthropic and Partners, click the plus button to add it.
Claude hands you off to Indeed to authorize. You'll see the permissions it asks for, searching job listings and reading your Indeed profile, so it can match roles to you. Approve it and you land back in Claude, fully connected.
That's the entire connection. Claude can now pull live Indeed listings inside any chat.
Step 2 - Upload your resume and find your best-fit jobs
Start a new chat, drag your resume PDF into it, then paste the prompt below. This tells Claude to use the Indeed connector, pull everything posted recently, and rank it honestly instead of dumping every listing on you.
Claude comes back with a ranked shortlist, strong fits at the top, plus a straight read on where you're stretching. That shortlist is what everything else runs on.
Here's my resume (attached). Using the Indeed connector, find every job posted in the last 5 days that fits my experience. Rank them from strongest to weakest fit and give me an honest assessment: the roles I'm a top candidate for, the ones that are a stretch, and the exact keywords each posting's screening system is scanning for. Put it in a clean list with the company, title, location, salary, and link.Step 3 - Rebuild and tailor on the Harvard guide + Google XYZ formula
A generic resume dies in the first ten seconds. Two frameworks fix that, and Claude applies both automatically.
The Harvard resume guide is the standard Harvard hands its own students: tight, action-led bullets, no fluff, quantified results. The Google XYZ formula is the pattern recruiters are trained to look for, Accomplished X, as measured by Y, by doing Z. Every bullet becomes a result with a number on it.
Paste this and Claude rebuilds your resume into a master template, then spins a tailored version for each role on your shortlist, matching the language and keywords in each posting.
Rebuild my resume into a master template that follows the Harvard resume guide exactly, plus the Google XYZ formula (Accomplished X, as measured by Y, by doing Z) on every bullet. Then create a tailored version for each of the top roles you just found, matching the exact keywords and language in each job description. Strip anything a hiring manager would flag in the first 10 seconds, and keep each one to a single page.Step 4 - Apply for real with Claude for Chrome
This is the step the viral clips skip. The Indeed connector found and tailored everything, but it has no apply button. To actually submit, you hand off to Claude for Chrome.
Install the extension, open Indeed in Chrome, and make sure you're logged in. Open the Claude sidebar and give it your shortlist and the tailored resumes. It drives the page the way you would: opens a listing, fills the application, attaches the right resume version, and submits.
Start with Easy Apply listings. Those are the ones Claude can complete end to end without leaving Indeed. Paste this to kick it off.
I'm logged into Indeed in this tab. Here is my shortlist and the tailored resume for each role. Go through the list one by one, open each posting, and complete the application using the matching tailored resume. Start with the Easy Apply listings. If a posting asks something you can't answer from my resume, pause and ask me. Show me the first three before you submit them, then keep going.Step 5 - Let it run while you sleep
Once you've watched the first few go out and you trust how it's filling things in, let it work the rest of the shortlist in batches. A few things keep it smooth and keep you in control:
- Prioritize Easy Apply. Applications that bounce you to an external company site are slower and more likely to stall, so let Claude clear all the Easy Apply ones first.
- Keep a tracking sheet. Ask Claude to log every job it applied to with the date and a link, so you never double apply and you know exactly where to follow up.
- Batch, don't blast. Real submissions take time and Indeed watches for spam, so steady batches beat trying to fire off a thousand in an hour. The number was never the point, not doing this by hand is.
- Refresh daily. Re-run Step 2 each morning for jobs posted in the last day, and Claude keeps feeding fresh roles into the machine.
That's the full loop. The connector finds and tailors, Claude for Chrome applies, and you review and sleep.
All the prompts, in order
Here's the full sequence in one place. Run them top to bottom, resume attached at the first one.
1) FIND AND RANK (attach your resume, in Claude):
Using the Indeed connector, find every job posted in the last 5 days that fits my resume, rank them strongest to weakest fit, and give an honest assessment plus the exact keywords each posting scans for. List company, title, location, salary, link.
2) REBUILD AND TAILOR (in Claude):
Rebuild my resume on the Harvard guide plus the Google XYZ formula, then make a tailored one-page version for each top role, matching each posting's keywords.
3) APPLY (in Claude for Chrome, logged into Indeed):
Go through my shortlist, open each posting, complete the application with the matching tailored resume, start with Easy Apply, ask me anything you can't answer, and show me the first three before submitting.
4) TRACK AND REPEAT (in Claude):
Log every application with date and link in a sheet, then each morning find new jobs posted in the last day and add them to the list. One heads up before you let it loose
Claude for Chrome is acting on your behalf inside a real logged-in account, and it's new, so treat the first session like a test drive. Watch the first handful of applications the whole way through and confirm it's answering questions the way you actually would. Keep everything on your applications truthful, a tailored resume is still your resume. And you can disconnect the Indeed connector or pause the extension any time from settings.

Frequently asked questions
The connector is added inside Claude and links to your existing Indeed account for free. You do need a paid Claude plan, since connectors and Claude for Chrome live on the paid tiers.
In two parts, yes. The Indeed connector finds and ranks jobs and tailors your resume, but it can't click apply. Claude for Chrome does the actual submitting by driving the Indeed page for you. Watch the first few and confirm before it submits, it's new and acting on your behalf.
No. Every step is either a few clicks or a copy-paste prompt from this guide. If you can upload a PDF and paste text, you can run the whole thing.
You authorize it through Indeed's own login, and it only asks to search jobs and read your profile. You can revoke it any time in your Indeed or Claude settings. Keep your applications honest and review sensitive ones before they send.
Yes. Here's the ChatGPT version using Agent Mode. Same Harvard and XYZ method, different engine. Claude's edge is the native Indeed connector, which makes the finding and ranking step cleaner.
