Combine Three Kids' Apps Into One That Brings Drawings to Life (GPT-6 Astra + Higgsfield API)
This is the full build from the video. GPT-6 Astra combines three kids' apps into one in Codex, and the Higgsfield API turns every drawing into a video. Both prompts are below, ready to paste.
Step 1. Grab $100 in free Codex credits
OpenAI is giving verified university students in the U.S. and Canada $100 in Codex credits. That's what this whole build runs on.
🎓 Claim the Codex student credits
- Open the offer page and sign in to your ChatGPT account.
- Verify you're a student. Have your school email ready.
- The credits land in your account once you're verified. You'll see 2,500 credits, which is the $100.
One claim per student, and the credits expire 12 months after you get them.
Not a student? A regular ChatGPT plan runs the same build.
Step 2. Pick three apps that already earn
Simple kids' apps make a lot more than you'd think. These are the three from the video, with IdeaWave's estimates:
- Coloring Games for Kids 2-6!, a coloring game, estimated around $113K a month
- Color Pop: AI Coloring Book, basically the same idea, estimated around $312K a month
- Movia AI: Photo to Video Maker, a photo to video app, estimated around $445K a month
These are modeled estimates, not verified revenue. They still show you where the demand is.
Open each app's App Store listing and copy the link. You need all three for Step 3.
The combining app method
Don't copy one app. Combine them.
A coloring app keeps kids drawing. A photo to video app makes a picture move. Put them together and a kid's drawing walks off the page.
That's a new app, not a clone, and it borrows the demand from all three.
Step 3. Have ChatGPT write the build prompt
You don't ask for the app. You ask for the prompt that builds the app.
This is what I typed into ChatGPT. Paste your three App Store links where the brackets are.
Use GPT-6 Astra to combine these apps:
[App Store link 1]
[App Store link 2]
[App Store link 3]
The app should allow kids to create drawings and also bring them to life. Comprehensive prompt, it should use the Higgsfield API.Or skip straight to the DrawAlive build prompt
This is the build prompt, cleaned up and complete, with everything the finished app had in the video, down to the pricing. Paste it straight into Codex in Step 5.
You are GPT-6 Astra. Build DrawAlive, a mobile-first web app that turns a kid's drawing into a short animated video. It should look and feel like a native phone app: full-screen screens, a bottom tab bar, bottom sheets and big thumb-friendly buttons.
Who it's for: parents. The parent owns the account. There are no child accounts and no child data beyond the drawing.
Two ways to start:
1. Photo. Take a photo of a drawing or pick one from the library. On the server, find the sheet of paper, straighten it, crop to it, turn the paper white and lift the crayon colors. Show a before and after.
2. Draw. A crayon canvas right in the app, with nine crayon colors, three sizes, an eraser, undo, redo and clear. Trim the empty page and place the drawing on a clean sheet.
Then:
- Pick a move: Stomp around, Dance, Wave hello, Fly, Roar, or write your own.
- Generate a 5-second video with the Higgsfield API, Seedance 2.5 image-to-video at 720p with sound. The character must keep the exact hand-drawn look: same wobbly lines, same crayon colors, same proportions. It peels itself off the paper and steps into the real room.
- While it renders, show a fun loading screen. The drawing wiggles, crayon scribbles draw themselves around it, status lines rotate and a crayon line fills up. Renders take a few minutes, so let the parent leave and find the video later.
- When it's ready, the paper peels away and the video plays underneath.
- Bedtime story mode: three short scenes with the same character, using Seedance 2.5 reference-to-video with the drawing as the reference, joined into one video with page-turn transitions.
- Every video gets a small "Made with DrawAlive" watermark burned into the corner.
- Share buttons: Messages, WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok and Save. Every shared link opens a page that plays the video with a "Bring yours to life" button.
- The fridge: a gallery of everything the parent has made.
Money: the first video is free. After that, a paywall with a weekly plan and a yearly plan behind a simple grown-ups question (a quick math problem). Stripe test mode for now.
Tech: read the key from a HIGGSFIELD_API_KEY environment variable and call the API only from the server, never from the browser. Upload the drawing with the presigned upload URL, submit the job, poll until it finishes, then download and keep the video. Only accept drawings, never photos of people. Delete uploaded drawings after 30 days.
When it's built, test it end to end with one drawing and show me the result.Step 4. Get your Higgsfield API key
One key gives your app every video model on Higgsfield, so you never wire up a video service yourself.
⚡ Get your Higgsfield API key
- Tap here to open Higgsfield and sign in.
- Open API keys and create one. Name it after your app.
- Copy it and keep it somewhere safe. It's only shown once.
When I filmed this, new accounts got $15 in free API credits, plus 100% cashback on API usage for 5 days. That covers a lot of test videos.
Treat the key like a password. It goes in an environment variable on the server, never in the browser or a screenshot. If it ever ends up on screen, delete it in the console and make a new one.
Step 5. Build it in Codex on GPT-6 Astra
Open Codex and start a new project folder for the app. Set the model to GPT-6 Astra.
Paste the build prompt. Then paste your API key with one line: put this in .env.local as HIGGSFIELD_API_KEY. Send it.
Within minutes you have a working app you can open on your phone. Test it before you change anything.
The line that wires the API properly
If the build puts the key in the wrong place or skips the progress states, paste this and it fixes it.
Every video in this app goes through the Higgsfield API.
Read the docs at docs.higgsfield.ai. Use Seedance 2.5 image-to-video for single videos and Seedance 2.5 reference-to-video for story scenes, with the drawing as the reference so the character stays the same.
Store the key in HIGGSFIELD_API_KEY, server side only, never in the browser. Upload the drawing with the presigned upload URL, submit the job, poll until it finishes, then download and keep the video.
Show real progress in the UI. If a generation fails, give the credit back and say what happened, never a blank screen.Step 6. Test it on your phone
Upload a drawing, pick Dance and tap Bring it to life. A few minutes later the paper peels away and the drawing is dancing around the room.
Then tap Draw one here and make your own. I drew a dinosaur with the in-app crayons, picked Stomp around, and it stomped right across the floor.
Step 7. Let the watermark do the marketing
Every video comes out with a small Made with DrawAlive badge in the corner.
Parents love sharing their kid's drawing coming to life. The share buttons send it to Messages, WhatsApp, Instagram and TikTok, and every shared link opens a page with a Bring yours to life button.
Every share points back to your app. That's how it markets itself.
The pricing it built
The first video is free. After that there's a paywall with two plans, behind a quick grown-ups math question:
- Weekly, $5.99 a week
- Yearly, $49.99 a year, about 96¢ a week
Keep the math simple. Every video is one generation on Higgsfield, and a bedtime story is three. Check the per-model price in the console and set your plans so every video costs your user more than it costs you.
Keep it safe for kids
This app is for parents. Keep it that way.
The parent owns the account and there are no kid accounts. It only takes drawings, never photos of people, and it deletes every upload after 30 days. Checkout sits behind a grown-ups question. Leave all of that in.
If you'd rather reverse engineer an existing app from its reviews first, that's the two-prompt method.

Frequently asked questions
If you're a verified university student in the U.S. or Canada, OpenAI gives you $100 in Codex credits, which shows up as 2,500 credits. One claim per student, and they expire 12 months after you get them. Claim them here.
No. GPT-6 Astra in Codex writes and runs the app. Your job is pasting the prompt and testing what comes back.
You pay per generation. A single video is one Seedance 2.5 generation and a bedtime story is three. New accounts had $15 in free credit plus 5 days of 100% cashback on API usage when this was filmed. Create a key and the console shows current pricing per model.
A few minutes for a 5-second video at 720p with sound. A bedtime story renders its three scenes at the same time, so it takes a little longer. The app lets parents leave and find the video on the fridge later.
It's built for parents. The parent owns the account, the app only takes drawings, uploads are deleted after 30 days, and checkout sits behind a grown-ups question. Every video carries your app's watermark, so it's always labeled.
