The $100K Founder Build Playbook (Fix Your Own Business With Emergent)

If you run a business, you already know exactly what is broken in it. This playbook turns that into a working app with plain English: the master build prompt, then a boost pack of paste-ready prompts that take the first draft from decent to agency-grade. And this week, the fix might pay you $100,000.

The contest, in 20 seconds

⚡ Open Emergent and start building

Emergent is paying the top three founders who fix their own business with an app they build themselves. Deadline: July 21. You describe the fix in plain English, it builds the real thing: database, screens, logic, all of it.

An ICU nurse got quoted $31,000 for a study platform and built it herself for under a grand. It has paying users. A roofer replaced five software subscriptions with one custom app. That is the energy the judges want.

Step 1: Pick the fix

Nobody knows what is broken in your business better than you. Pick ONE of these:

  • The tool you pay monthly for that only does 20% of what you need.
  • The job you lose hours to every single week (scheduling, quotes, follow-ups, tracking).
  • The thing customers keep asking for that you keep apologizing about.

One fix, described in a sentence. That is the whole entry. Do not build a second startup, fix YOUR business.

Step 2: The master build prompt

Paste this into Emergent, fill the brackets, press build. This is the exact skeleton from the video:

Copy-paste this
Build me a complete, working web app.

WHAT IT IS: [one sentence, e.g. a study platform for ICU certification exams]
WHO USES IT: [e.g. nurses studying for the CCRN, and me as the admin]
THE ONE FEATURE THAT MATTERS MOST: [e.g. timed practice quizzes with explanations for every answer]. Build this first and make it genuinely work end to end.
SCREENS I NEED: landing page, sign up and log in, dashboard, [the core feature screen], settings.
DATA TO SAVE: [each user's results, progress, history], stored per account.
STYLE: clean and modern, [dark or light], feels trustworthy, flawless on mobile.

Rules: no placeholder screens, no fake buttons, everything clickable works. Seed realistic sample data so nothing looks empty. If something is unclear, make the smart product call and keep building, do not stop to ask me.

The boost pack

The first build is your draft. These are the prompts that turn it into the thing that wins. Paste them one at a time, in this order, after the first build finishes.

Prompt 2: The design glow up

Copy-paste this
Make the design feel like a $50,000 agency built it. Upgrade the spacing, the typography hierarchy, and the color consistency across every screen. Add hover states, smooth transitions, loading states, and empty states. Keep my brand and layout, just make everything feel finished and intentional. Show me before and after on the three most important screens.

Prompt 3: Phone-first polish

Copy-paste this
Open every screen at phone size and fix everything that breaks: text that wraps badly, buttons too small to tap, tables that overflow, spacing that collapses. Make the whole app feel like it was designed for a phone first. Then re-check tablet and desktop and fix anything that drifted.

Prompt 4: Accounts and saved data

Copy-paste this
Add email and password accounts with secure sessions. Save every user's [results / entries / projects] to the database so everything is still there when they log back in. Add a simple account page where they can update their details, change their password, and delete their account.

Prompt 5: Pricing and Stripe

Copy-paste this
Add a pricing page with a Free tier and a Pro tier at [$9.99] a month. Wire up Stripe checkout in test mode, gate [the premium features] behind Pro, and handle upgrade, downgrade, and cancel cleanly. Clear, honest pricing copy, no dark patterns.

Prompt 6: The built-in AI assistant

Copy-paste this
Add an AI assistant inside the app that [explains every wrong answer / drafts the reply / recommends the next step] using the user's own data as context. Stream its replies so it feels alive, give it a short friendly personality, and read the API key from environment secrets, never hardcoded.

Prompt 7: The zero-patience bug hunt

Copy-paste this
Go through the entire app like a paying customer with zero patience. Click everything, submit every form empty, type garbage into every field, upload the wrong file type, resize the window. List every bug, dead end, and confusing moment you find, ranked by how bad it is. Then fix all of them and tell me exactly what changed.

Prompt 8: Fast and findable

Copy-paste this
Make it fast and findable. Compress and lazy-load images, remove unused code, and get every page loading in under 2 seconds. Give every page a descriptive title and meta description, add Open Graph tags so links preview beautifully, generate a sitemap, and use clean readable URLs.

Prompt 9: Contest-day polish

Copy-paste this
I am entering this app in a contest judged by founders. Do a final pass that makes it demo perfect: a landing page that explains the fix in one screen, an obvious happy path from sign up to the core feature in under 60 seconds, realistic demo data everywhere, and zero console errors. Then write me a 3 sentence pitch: the problem, the fix, and what it saves or makes.

Step 3: Enter before July 21

🏆 Build your fix on Emergent now

Top three owners win. The deadline is July 21, so the play is simple: pick the fix today, run the master prompt, then work down the boost pack one prompt at a time. Even if you do not take the $100K, you walk away with the app that was going to cost you five figures 🤯

Frequently asked questions

No. You describe the fix in plain English and Emergent writes and runs all the code: the database, the screens, the logic. The prompts in this playbook are the only technical skill involved.

Emergent lets you start building for a tiny fraction of an agency quote. The nurse in the video shipped her whole platform for under a grand after being quoted $31,000.

The thing that is broken in YOUR business: the overpriced tool you pay for monthly, the job that eats your week, or the thing customers keep asking for. One clear fix beats a second startup. Step 1 of the playbook helps you pick.

A real fix with a story. A working core feature, a clean demo path, and a before and after a judge can feel: what it cost you, what it saves now. Prompt 9 in the boost pack is built exactly for that final pass.

July 21. Top three owners win $100,000. Pick the fix today and run the master prompt, the first build takes minutes, the polish is the rest of the week.
